The Orca Novel 12 Day Challenge
There are two components to this challenge:
MOVIE TRAILER MADNESS
ï Students will be creating a mini “Movie Trailer” for their Orca novel using new Photostory software. We will be learning the skills we need, and acquiring the components over a series of several mini lessons in the library. Students who miss these tutorial opportunities will be required to work on their movie trailers outside of class. Mrs.Anderson and Amy are evaluating students daily on their work habits. Absent students will receive a zero for that day. Movie trailers will incorporate the following requirements:
|
________ title slide (title of novel, author, image that depicts main message of novel, your name) *________ pictures *________ captions ________ voiceovers ________ sound effects ________ music ________ “fancy extras” *include components of: -plot (WITHOUT giving away the ending!) -central conflicts and resolution -symbols -theme -characters BONUS: include a quote (cite it with a page number in brackets!) |
NOTE: Students who consistently demonstrate the maturity, ability and responsibility to work in a small group will be permitted to do so. These students will read the same novel. Students who do not regularly attend, complete their mini lesson tasks, or contribute to their small group will promptly be removed at the discretion of the teacher. A student will be given one warning, then will have to work individually if the behaviour persists. The requirements will be adjusted for small groups. Students unable to work with the class in the library, or complete the assignment will be given alternate writing assignments to complete at a separate location.
ï Students will individually complete small writing assignments to prepare for their mini tutorials.
